#17807, Controlled Long Duration 100 G Horizontal Testing Module for High Intensity Visible Spectrum LED Lighting integrated on a REL High Strain Rate Testing System
Multi axial High G LED Lighting is important in crash test research. High G LED lamps allow for the illumination of dynamic events onboard the test fixture during controlled sled crash events. The design of a LED light to survive a 100 G event with durations greater than 15 milliseconds is accomplished with a horizontal testing module that can be controlled and mounted on a precision REL Flat Base with an integrated sled track. The testing module used in this current work can accelerate up to a 4-pound load to 50 miles per hour with a controlled tunable deceleration in less than twenty feet. The sled module in the presentation is the REL-CS73 with servo control. This module was used in this work to design the lens, mounting, and the forced convection cooling fan that is integral to the LED unit. This presentation will show the testing results along with videos of the testing along 3 axis for a WS4 LED Lamp.
